Monitoring of the Magnetic Field Exposition
RM2013A000189
The patent describes an apparatus to monitor the exposition of workers to static or quasi-static magnetic fields by integrating the spatial position of a numerical model of the body, reconstructed by using the images collected by a set of video cameras distributed in different locations inside the room (see Figure), with the magnetic field spatial distribution measured once (when installed inside the room) and stored in a computer memory. The apparatus is based on an innovative technology that allows: to measure the magnetic field exposition of each body district of any worker present in the controlled area; to evaluate the induced currents in each body district due to movement in a non uniform magnetic field and/or magnetic field temporal variations; to do real time analy- sis of previous data and signal the override of any threshold of interest. The apparatus requires no changes in the controlled area setup even if a radiofrequency shield is present. The advantages compared to existing apparatus for magnetic field exposition are: detailed information for each body district with high temporal resolution and no dynamic range limitations in the measured quantities; real time analysis; the operators in the controlled area can not avoid surveillance.
